Greetings Readers!

It’s been a hell of a week and it’s only Wednesday. Feelings of confusion, discord, and dis-ease are in the air thanks to planetary aspects like Mercury Retrograde. In moments like this, it’s important to ground ourselves in the truth. The truth is that in each moment we have the option to choose how we respond to our surroundings. We can choose thoughts and practices that foster feelings of confusion, discord, and dis-ease or we can choose to shift our focus to bring about a better condition.

Thought often precedes emotion. Therefore heavy, negative thoughts invite in heavy emotion. While peaceful thoughts lead to peaceful emotional states. Ahh, the wonders of the human condition! May our thoughts call in peace and balance today.

In need of inspiration, join me on my social media platforms as I share quotes from the holy Odu via the series ‘20 Days of Odu Ifa’. Hope to see you there!

Initiate Peace

For the next few months, I will choose cards from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

The Lovers + Queen of Swords + 5 of Wands

The cards tell a story. The imagery, numbers, and symbols weave together to provide a vision of what lies ahead. The subconscious calls forth the cards needed to communicate this vision and help us see the truth in our situations. It is our job to tune in and pay attention to the messages that emerge.

This week we find a combination of cards which encourages us to move in the direction of others and to do so lovingly. Venus is now in retrograde. This aspect can put a strain on relationships if we are not conscious of our behaviors and patterns. The Lovers card is a card of merging. The coming together of two souls in the name of love. The sun shines down on the individuals who have made the choice to love. The heavens celebrate their union. During this time allow the energy of the Queen to come in with her clarity and bless your relations. Approach communications clearly and with a sharp mind. Your intelligence will serve you well at this time. Do not allow emotion to overrule your logic. This clarity supports you in moving through this retrograde period smoothly and with little disturbance.

The 5-a number of change indicates that change is coming to your relationships. Change is not always enjoyable but it is a constant, one that we can not avoid. The way to move through this change smoothly is to do so with focus and adaptability. Focus on your prefered outcomes instead of worrying about all that could go wrong. Adapt gracefully instead of holding onto past ways of being. Your blessings are forthcoming only if you prepare for their arrival.

If you want peaceful relationships, initiate peace. If you want balanced relationships, initiate balance. If on the other hand you want to engage in discord, that option is available to you as well. It really is your choice.

Be clear in your intention and send out what you want to attract.

Let Go and Thrive!

For the next few months, I will choose cards from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

Queen of Pentacles + 5 of Swords + Knave of Chalices

In life, we all experience challenges. There’s no denying it. Contention, discord, fight are all part of the human experience. Yet, there are times when we (you & I) contribute to our own discord.

Emotional immaturity is often at the forefront of this imbalance. The way we perceive and think about experiences is also a catalyst for contention. Examine your emotional processes. Study your own thinking. When you do this, you begin to hone your powers of manifestation. Instead of being a passive participant in life, you become an active participant, a co-creator with the most high.

You begin to call in abundance, resourcefulness, and joy. Let go of that which no longer serves you and your evolution.

Let go and thrive.

Ogun, Clear the Path

For the next few months, I will choose cards from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

Ace of Swords + 2 of Chalices + 6 of Chalices

One day Orisa Ogun was deep in the woods enjoying his favorite pastime, hunting. After some time in the bush, he headed towards a nearby stream for a drink of water. As he approached the stream he heard two men arguing. The men had both caught the same fish. One hook was in one end, the other’s hook was in the other end. The men were arguing over who the fish belonged to. Ogun encouraged the men to calm down and listened to their arguments. Both men were stubborn. Neither of them would calm down long enough to come up with a fair and diplomatic solution. “Enough!” Ogun yelled. His voice echoing through the forest. In an instant, he pulled out his cutlass (machete) and cut the fish in two. Problem solved. Each man received an equal portion of the fish they had caught.

Ogun has come to cut the fish in half. Are you are facing a stalemate? Is there someone in your life who you are not seeing eye to eye with? Are you arguing/fighting over resources? Ogun says no more. It’s time to cut the fish in two. He has come to bring a fair and balanced solution to your situation. You will move from discord to peace. Arguments will transform into mature discussions. Unhealthy relationships will be repaired. Peace offerings and offerings of love will replace anger and hatred. Camaraderie, love, and contentment are being offered at this time. Be open to peaceful resolution. Be open to love.

Shit Happens

For the next few months, I will choose a card from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

9 of Swords + The Hierophant

We all have those days. Days when we struggle to get out of bed. Days when unhappiness settles in as if it's a companion. It happens. Depression happens. Sadness happens. Disappointment happens. This is life. We would not know what peace is without the occasional depressive state.

Is this one of those days for you? Is this one of those weeks? Are traumatic memories coming up for review? Welcome to humanity. Whether people show it or not we all have our moments, days, weeks, and months of despair. Today’s message says the way to pull yourself out of this funk is to look towards the heavens. You are being encouraged to adopt or create a formal spiritual practice that will pull your awareness away from depressing thoughts. If Islam resonates with your spirit pursue it. Whether it’s Ifa, Judaism, Hinduism pursue it. If your spirit is calling you to spend more time in meditation, do so. Adopting a spiritual practice and creating rituals will support your healing. Get to it!
